What is Zakat?

Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It is obligatory for every Muslim who possesses wealth above the Nisab threshold for one lunar year.

Who Receives Zakat?

Zakat can be given to the poor, needy, those in debt, travelers in need, and other categories mentioned in the Quran (Surah At-Tawbah 9:60).

When to Pay?

Zakat is due after one lunar year (Hawl) has passed since your wealth exceeded the Nisab. Many Muslims pay during Ramadan for increased reward.
